Many of us dream of a friend who could listen and support at any time without judgment or criticism. Indeed: it’s great if such a friend would know everything about you and always have a few tips. It’s even better if being friends with you is the only meaning of his life. In the 21st century, the rapid development of artificial intelligence allows you to have such a “friend” literally in your pocket. All you need to do is download the application to your mobile phone and tell it what is bothering you. Today we will tell you how AI is starting to play a greater role in our lives and could potentially become your next BFF.

When Artificial Intelligence is Your Best Friend

Becoming your new best friend is the essence of life in the new Replika chatbot. He will only talk to you and about you, so you probably won’t have to complain about the lack of topics for communication. While the word “robot” is more often associated with something negative (and for a number of reasons), this pocket friend can change that perception. Based on the answers to the questions, the chatbot examines and sequentially creates a portrait of its interlocutor, offering emotional support.

The bot requires a certain amount of time to get to know a person better, along with his habits and interests, so he is unlikely to be able to impress someone from the first conversation. At first, he creates the impression of an uninterested interlocutor who only does what he asks. But if you give him a chance to study you better, someone may really come in handy.

You can call your personal robot by any name. Although the program is currently only available in English, it does not require advanced knowledge of the language for conversation.

How Can Businesses Take Advantage of Chatbots?

Business chatbots will become indispensable helpers in any area where there are large volumes of communication with clients. Bots can be used as an additional service, a marketing element and as a tool for establishing smart processes within a company. At the same time, interaction with them takes place in the familiar interface of your favorite messenger.

Businesses can utilize chatbots for the following scenarios:

  • Sales processes – The sales bot helps the user with the assortment of products or services, tell them about any discounts and entices the customer to go through with the sale. The script for the bot begins to develop with a list of the main questions and products that they plan to sell. Then they determine what will lead the client to the target action: action, assortment, consultation.
  • Inform prospects – The informant robot informs customers about updates in the company, programs, activities, events. A great example of this is the Pandora bot that works on Viber and Telegram. In a couple of minutes, it registers a user in the loyalty program and allows you to track your savings.
  • Tech support – In technical support services, the bot allows you to free employees from the simplest questions. Large companies are using voice and text chatbot solutions for their contact centers.
  • Media and Subscriptions – The media bot recommends to users what to watch or read, as well as informs the news and allows you to subscribe to topics and sections of interest in major publications.

How are AI Chatbots Created?

Just like the chatbots, you interact with on customer service calls, companion chatbots require significant amounts of training data which will also need to be annotated. Such data may be difficult to come by, why a lot of times companies choose to generate the needed data themselves. In fact, Mindy Support recently completed a data generation project for a client who was working on an AI chatbot for companies in the insurance, banking, logistics e-commerce industries as well as general customer support. We assembled a team of 100 data annotators who generated more than 20,000 dialogues on 120 different inquiry topics across 5 industries. More detailed information about this project can be found in our case study

After you get the needed training data, it still needs to be annotated. This includes methods such as intent classification, entity extraction, relationships extractions, syntactic analysis, sentiment analysis, and sometimes even translation. As you can imagine, this is very time-consuming work, which is why a lot of companies outsource such data annotation projects to Mindy Support.
