Annotating CT Scans to Help Doctors Develop Breakthrough Treatments

The client needed a team of data annotators to contour CT scans with axial, sagittal and coronal views of the male and female pelvises

The client was working on a project that involved 3D modeling of organs. Basically, they would need to contour the organ on each photo and then take three separate measurements of the axial, sagittal and coronal views of the male and female pelvises in the 3D CT scans that will be later used to create a computer model of that specific organ. Since there were so many datasets that required such work, their in-house team was spending too much time completing these tasks. The client was looking to hire an external team who could take care of the needed annotation work so they could focus on their core functions.

Since the project required extensive medical expertise, Mindy Support hired two experienced radiologists to contour the internal organs in the male and female pelvis. The first thing we had to do was train the new hires how to use the client’s tool. This presented its own challenges since the requirements from the client were very specific and the training needed to be done quickly to keep up with the client’s deadlines.

We needed to contour 12 organs in 110 CT scans with axial, sagittal and coronal views of the male and female pelvises. We have now been working on the project for one year with excellent feedback from the client. As the project is still ongoing, we are continuing to provide value by increasing the client’s ROI, keeping costs under control and meeting deadlines to help keep the project on schedule.
